John Cimino is a dedicated public servant and a passionate advocate for the residents of Mercer County. Blending extensive professional experience with a deep-rooted commitment to civic duty, John works tirelessly to ensure the county remains a vibrant and prosperous place to live, work, and raise a family.
As a County Commissioner, he is focused on advancing fiscal responsibility, supporting vital infrastructure, and championing policies that directly benefit local communities. Whether he is collaborating with municipal leaders or listening directly to constituents, John brings a pragmatic, people-first approach to local government, always striving to deliver meaningful, long-lasting results for Mercer County.
Public Service & Leadership
Throughout his tenure on the Board, Cimino has held numerous leadership positions, including serving as Board President in 2013 and 2019, as well as multiple terms as Chair and Vice Chair. His advocacy extends beyond Mercer County; he is a prominent figure in the New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC), where he served as the Association’s 80th President in 2021. In recognition of his outstanding leadership and dedication to county governments across the state, NJAC named him the Maurice Fitzgibbons County Commissioner of the Year in 2022.
Prior to his election to the Board of County Commissioners, Cimino built a strong foundation in local civic engagement. He served on the Mercer County Planning Board (including a term as Chairman), the Hamilton Township Redevelopment Agency, the Hamilton Township Economic Development Commission, and the Hamilton Township Zoning Board of Adjustment.
Professional Career
In his professional life, Cimino serves as the Chief Strategy Officer at T&M Associates, a leading engineering, environmental, and construction management firm. His career as an infrastructure professional provides him with a highly practical perspective on county operations, regional transportation hubs, and long-term economic planning.
Community Involvement
Commissioner Cimino is deeply invested in the local community and has dedicated countless hours to various civic and charitable organizations. His community service record includes:
- Hamilton Area YMCA: Board of Directors (2009–2019), serving as Chairman from 2012 to 2017.
- Lakeview Child Center: Board Member (2001–2016).
- Youth Sports: Former President of the Nottingham Little League and coach for CYO Boys and Girls Basketball
- Advisory Roles: Past involvement with the Robert Wood Johnson – Hamilton Young Professionals Group, Allies, Inc. Advisory Board, and the MidJersey Chamber of Commerce.
Personal Life
A proud resident of Hamilton Township, John and his wife, Jeannine, have two children, AJ and Emma. Their family is completed by their three dogs: Harley, Cody, and Dexter.
