Moving Mercer Forward

As your Mercer County Commissioner, John Cimino has spent his career fighting for working families, local businesses, and our community's future. John is committed to finding common sense, progressive solutions to the unique challenges our county faces, delivering real results that make Mercer County a better place to live, work, and raise a family.

📉 Fiscal Responsibility & Affordability

John understands that rising costs and inflation are putting real pressure on working and middle-class families. To combat this, he is a strong advocate for the consolidation of services across municipalities and school districts. By championing shared services—building on successful models like the consolidation of Princeton Township and Borough—John ensures that local government streamlines resources, cuts administrative red tape, and eases the burden on local property taxpayers without sacrificing the quality of the county services you rely on.

⚖️✊Defending Democracy and Transparency

At a time when national leaders attack the very foundations of our democratic process, we are working to make our local government more accessible than ever. John is committed to modernizing our meeting spaces, hosting meetings in every town, and implementing technology—it’s about proving that government can be honest, open, and accountable to the people it serves.

🚌 Transportation & Smart Infrastructure

Accessible, reliable transportation is key to a thriving local economy and a cleaner environment. John is focused on expanding and optimizing mass transit options to help get commuters off congested roads and onto greener, more efficient transit networks. Whether it’s prioritizing funding for active transportation and trail networks or improving existing bus routes, John is working to make it easier for residents to get to work, school, and local businesses safely.

🤝Protecting Our Most Vulnerable

We are seeing a coordinated effort at the federal level to gut the social safety net. From threats to SNAP and Medicaid to the $6.5 million in federal funding cuts hitting our county budget this year, the Trump agenda is designed to leave people behind. John will continue to fight for a budget that fills those gaps, ensuring our seniors and working families aren’t forced to pay the price for federal neglect. In the face of severe federal funding cuts, local government must step up to protect its most vulnerable residents. John is a vocal supporter of Mercer County’s new Office of Food Security, working hand-in-hand with local nonprofits to address hunger head-on. He is dedicated to ensuring that all families have access to the public health resources, supportive housing, and community services they need to thrive.

🏗️ Economic Development & Job Creation

A strong Mercer County requires a robust, forward-looking economy. John supports strategic investments that bring good-paying jobs and premier facilities to our region. By backing key projects—from the revitalization of the CURE Insurance Arena and the arrival of the Trenton Ironhawks, to the CHOP redevelopment in Hamilton—John is helping build an economy that attracts new businesses and works for everyone.

🌳 Protecting Open Space & The Environment

Preserving Mercer County’s natural beauty for future generations is a top priority. John consistently supports initiatives to protect ecologically and historically significant lands, including recent landmark land purchase agreements to preserve open space alongside our local educational institutions. He remains committed to advancing climate resiliency and sustainable practices across all county operations. While the current administration rolls back clean water protections and ignores the reality of climate change, John is doubling down on local sustainability and protecting our open spaces and ensuring that infrastructure projects, like the airport terminal, are held to the highest environmental and community standards.
